TBD Monthly Round-Up

Things we are loving right now…

Well, with Halloween behind us, it can only mean one thing… we’re moving at rocket-ship speed toward the end of the year. I’m savoring these clear, crisp mornings and the last bits of warm afternoon sun.

We just photographed a project up North that we completed earlier this year, and it was two full days of reminiscing—revisiting design details, remembering the transformation, and appreciating how far the home has come since our very first visit.

Our projects often have a long arc between the starting point and the true finish.

We take the planning phase seriously, completing all design work and documentation before construction ever begins.

It allows the concept to ripen into a clear, complete vision so that once we enter construction and project management, we know the path and can stay on track.

We began this full home renovation in Spring 2023 and waited to photograph until the exterior was complete.

Coming back after so much time always feels like seeing an old friend—you forget the little things until you step inside again, and suddenly it all feels like home.

Here is a behind the lens scene from the living room. More to come in the months ahead. It’s a good one.

Behind the Scenes: Design in Progress

On the heels of the photo shoot, we now have three installations scheduled for November—which is a little wild, but also exciting. There’s nothing like seeing the spaces come to life.

First up is the initial phase of furnishings for our Bodega Bay project. It’s a second home, and the clients needed a full house of furnishings. As with many of our furnishing projects, that also meant rethinking the lighting to create a cohesive aesthetic and truly transform the space.

Design News

I’ve been diving into a new book, “Stop Letting Every Thing Affect You” by Daniel Chidiac, and I’m honestly surprised by how much it resonates. I struggle with overthinking and the familiar spiral of “what could go wrong?”—so finding something that speaks directly to that has been huge. I’m only starting Chapter 3, but already it’s hitting home.

The book outlines four reasons overthinking patterns persist, and just acknowledging these feels like step one toward real change:

  1. Your brain rewards overthinking. Every time you engage anxious thoughts, you strengthen those neural pathways, making your mind more efficient at producing the very thoughts you wish you could quiet.

  2. Your brain favors familiarity. Even painful beliefs feel “safe” because they’re what you know. Challenging them means stepping into the discomfort of a new reality.

  3. You haven’t challenged the thoughts. Many of us accept them as part of who we are instead of questioning whether they’re actually true.

  4. Letting go feels irresponsible. Your brain convinces you that stopping the worry means you’re being careless. But letting go isn’t ignoring your problems, it’s accepting what you can’t control.

I’ve also struggled to finish a book in a long time, but this one feels vital—for my growth, my peace of mind, and my overall mental health. If you’re in a similar place, maybe something here resonates with you too.

Cheers to all that lies ahead!
