Things we are loving right now…
I was not quite ready for Summer to be over but I am working on pivoting and enjoying all that Fall has to offer. The crisp, clear days have been truly something and remind me of the beauty of where we live. It also reminded me of my love for foraging. I have been eyeing on my drives a pretty palette of greenery just wanting a little trim…Don’t be surprised if you see any local greenery taking center stage in our imagery.
In my yard, I have the most beautiful hydrangea that was white in August and has turned the most beautiful combination of fall colors. A reminder that we all need to embrace the pivot, as we see it happening organically all around us.
Behind the Scenes: Design in Progress
Demolition is all done at our mid-century home remodel in Santa Rosa and the new vison is starting to get built out. A couple of fun updates, our contractor mocked up the kitchen cabinetry as it is a bit more complicated due many radius details. It was a great opportunity to tweak the design and get the dimensions and size just right.
We also had an exciting day that involved a crane to transport the large new Fleetwood windows for the back of the house. They set up in the driveway and picked up the large crate and sailed it easily over the house and down on the other side. It was something to watch and made me realize how lucky we are to work with all these people that know their stuff. Stay tuned for the drone footage from that day!
Design News
I am currently coveting majolica plates, bowls and platters. If you have known me for any length of time, you know that I love pottery and a good plate display, so finding more plates to love should not be a surprise.
Majolica is a type of decorative pottery that is characterized by raised designs or patterns that are sculpted on the surface of the ceramic before the glazing process. The pieces are then coated with bright, colorful glazes, that are typically glossy and vibrant, enhancing the raised patterns.
