TBD Monthly Round-Up
We’re deep in the thick of it right now — and loving every moment.
Here’s a peek at a few project snapshots from this month. I’m especially excited about how different these two projects are, yet they still share a common thread that ties them together beautifully.
Behind the Scenes: Design in Progress + A Look Back at Vine Hill House
Before After
This year has been a whirlwind of meetings, planning sessions, design deep-dives, and home transformations. We’ve had a steady flow of projects moving through the construction process, and now, we’re finally starting to see the finish line on a few.
With final phases of furnishings on the horizon, we’re getting excited to see everything come together.
While we're not quite ready to share those reveals just yet, we thought it was the perfect time to take a look back and highlight one of our favorite completed projects: Vine Hill House.
This month, we’re diving deeper into the story behind the design — how the overall direction took shape, the unique challenges the home presented, and how we approached solving them with thoughtful, intentional design choices. It's a project that truly reflects our collaborative process and passion for creating spaces that feel both beautiful and deeply livable.
Stay tuned — we can’t wait to share more soon.
New and Noteworthy
At the beginning of the year, I mentioned a goal of building more “new-old” homes, and I wanted to take a moment to expand on what that means to us.
Our aim is to create homes that capture the charm and character of older architecture while seamlessly integrating modern amenities and smart, livable floor plans tailored to our clients' lifestyles.
These homes may be new, but they feel timeless — grounded in thoughtful design and lasting craftsmanship.
Here are a few key features we often incorporate to bring that “new-old” vision to life:
1. Exterior Curb Appeal
Material Blending: We love combining materials like V-rustic siding or shingles with brick or stone accents. This layered look adds depth, texture, and a sense of history.
Architectural Windows: High-quality windows aren’t just functional — they add architectural weight and help define the character of a home from the outside in.
2. Interior Finishes and Layers
Millwork: Thoughtful wall treatments — from partial-height wainscoting to full-height paneling — bring warmth and personality to a space. Whether stained or painted, these details help elevate an otherwise simple floor plan.
Paint: A comprehensive paint plan that includes varied hues for walls, cabinetry, and trim can dramatically enhance a home's atmosphere and charm.
Cabinetry: We always recommend custom cabinetry. When thoughtfully designed, it offers superior function and character — often at a similar cost to high-end box cabinets, but with much more impact.
Tip From Tama
Lighting has been on my mind a lot lately, and I wanted to share a bit about how we approach it in our projects.
More often than not, we're starting from scratch—building a lighting plan that feels cohesive across an entire home. But “cohesive” doesn’t mean perfectly matched. In fact, we believe there’s beauty in variation.
When selecting lighting for a whole house, our goal isn’t to match every finish or fixture exactly.
Instead, we look for pieces that feel like they’re part of the same family—complementary, not identical.
This approach allows each space to have its own character while still contributing to a unified story.
The subtle differences in finish, shape, or scale add layers of interest and make the home feel more collected and personal
