TBD Monthly Round-Up
Things we are loving right now
A curated look at what's inspiring us this month — from design ideas to objects worth owning.
Be gone, white ceilings
Paint is one of the most powerful — and underestimated — tools in design.
The right color combination can make a space feel modern or traditional, expansive or wonderfully cozy.
It's one of the first places we look when setting the tone for a project.
So when I came across this recent article in Homes & Gardens about "ceiling blurring," I was completely here for it.
The concept is simple but transformative: instead of stopping your wall color at the ceiling line, you continue it upward onto the fifth wall — the ceiling — using a slightly lighter shade of the same color.
The subtle shift draws your eye upward, creating the feeling of more height and more space without changing a single thing structurally.
It's an especially powerful trick in smaller spaces like powder bathrooms, where every design decision carries extra weight.
We've been playing with this technique in our own projects, and the results never get old. Sometimes the smallest moves make the biggest impact.

Behind the Scenes: Design in Progress
Our Mid-Century Modern project in Santa Rosa is almost there — and honestly, it's one of those projects that just keeps getting better as it comes together.
The cabinetry and tile are going in, and the space is finally starting to speak for itself.
For the entry, kitchen, and dining areas, we chose a black and putty terrazzo that feels grounded and timeless — the kind of material that only gets more beautiful over time.
Terrazzo requires patience; the tile had to sit onsite for weeks to fully dry before installation.
We're setting it with an almost seamless, super tight joint, and we're still waiting on a sample to decide whether to leave the surface natural or enhance it. Either way, it's going to be stunning.
The cabinetry is elm — and wow that grain is spectacular. There's something about elm that feels both organic and refined, which is exactly the balance we were going for in a home like this. We leaned into a trio of colors across both bathrooms that, I honestly can't stop smiling about. More on that soon.
The finish line is in sight, and we can't wait to show you the full reveal.
Design News
We are so proud of our good friends Hayden and Stephanie at Geyserville Furniture Company.
These two are doing something truly special right here in our own backyard — building a business rooted in craftsmanship, intention, and a whole lot of heart. Every piece they create is handmade, and it shows. There's a warmth and quality to their furniture that you just can't find anywhere else.
They were recently featured in The Press Democrat, and their story is one worth reading — about following a dream, building something with your own hands, and putting down roots in a community you love.
Hayden and I working to get a finish for a custom piece just right.
We are lucky to call them friends, and even luckier to have their beautiful work in our lives and our projects.
Trust us — you'll want to follow along on their journey.
Until next month
Cheers!
