Wallpaper Forever!

I haven’t written a post about wallpaper in some time and yet my love for wallpaper has stayed strong! It is funny, because we often go into a new client’s home and one of the first questions that we ask is if they are open to or like wallpaper. I think wallpaper gets a bad rap, one that dates from the 50’s through maybe the 90’s. You know, grandma’s paper, the god awful stuff that nightmares are made of. We can see when a client was traumatized with “that” kind of wallpaper. But, fortunately for us, many of our client’s are open to the idea and understand that it is a great way to add color and texture to a space, and in a way that can be lasting, a classic. We are here for bringing it back, but in a good way. So, let me share some of our recent favorites, our go-to standards and a few that we are waiting to use as we design new spaces for our clients.

A bedroom wall with a wallpaper that has a large, abstract floral pattern and enutral tones. The window shade matches the wallpaper.

I know that many of you already know this, but I do love an English paper. This is a bold print from Lewis & Wood called Pomegranate. My one regret is that I did not paper all the walls.

A bathroom with a warm sisal wallpaper.

We love a grasscloth to add color and texture. This is Thibaut’s Extra Fine Sisal in Doe.We often use this type of wallpaper in powder baths and bedrooms. It is a way to add color, but in a way that feels more classic and lasting. It can be used as a neutral...

A cutout with a large, wooden vanity, wood framed mirror, and green glass cloth wallpaper.

Or it can be used as a punch of color. It just feels more authentic to me encased in grasscloth as opposed to paint. We love this green.

A bedroom with the back wall papered in blue and white wallpaper.

It is also a fabulous way to add pattern. It works really well in this bedroom with a more complicated ceiling due to the dormer windows. It is Schumacher Drizzle wallpaper in Dove.

A bathroom with a very bright, colorful patterned wallpaper on all walls.

And, you can use it as a statement piece. I love how this Schumacher, Shanghai Peacock in Cerise works with the modern elements. It is the lead without stealing the show.

Here are a few that I have been collecting and just waiting for the right space to use them in.

Three wallpaper swatches with geometric and nature inspired patterns.

I love these three papers, both bold and refined from Soane Britain.

Three wallpaper swatches with deep blues and florals.

And these patterned grasscloth prints from Elizabeth Eakins. Love these!

Two wallpaper swatches in neutral tones with modern nature-inspired prints.

And I am hoping to use these two prints in a primary bath that we are just starting to dream and scheme on...

Cheers to pattern, color and texture being added to your life!
