When it comes to creating, nothing puts the damper on things like waiting for the Permit and Resource Management Department, or PRMD.  That is who approves building or remodeling when you are outside the city limits.  And that is who we have been waiting on for the last couple of months of 2014, so we could begin the renovation on the Vintage River Cottage project.

Layers are not just for fall and winter anymore…

This past year has been an interesting reminder that good design is about “big picture” thinking. I spoke a little about this in an earlier post discussing a plan starting from the entry on the property, up to the house and all the pieces surrounding. This is true whether you have acreage or if it is a city lot, you don’t need to put in place all the pieces at the same time but you do have to have a plan or a design strategy in mind so you can make good choices as you move along in the project.
