I am turning 50 this year and I realize that one of the things that makes me really happy is doing good work and that for me as I get older is also about being authentic, taking a risk and showing up. This post is about that and it's about the above image, which is of a recently completed project and the "fire pots" that we installed in the kitchen. They are vintage, large, heavy and as the story goes from the antique dealer...They were used at a camping ground and each campsite (think site #1, #2, #3, etc.) had one of the numbered metal pails to place the old/hot coals from their fire. I love that. I loved them when I first laid my eyes on them and they had to go in my client's house. I wasn't sure if he would "get " them or see the big vision when I drug them into the design meeting. But, I took a chance, I trusted my work and my gut and they are a focal point and a conversation piece in his house. And, he may not admit it, but I think that he loves them too!
